2nd International Annual Conference of the GSCN
The 2nd International Annual Conference took place November 3 - 5, 2014 at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg ( Link).
Highlight movie of the 2nd GSCN Conference
Following the decision of the GSCN executive board in Heidelberg to establish three GSCN awards, we would like to ask you for suggestions for two of these awards:
- Young Investigator (German-based) (The candidate should be within 8 year after the doctorate degree and in her/his first faculty/independent position (non-tenured); GSCN membership is not required).
- Female Scientist (based in Germany) (no limitations on the level; GSCN membership is not required).
- Best Publication of 2015 (07/14 - 06/15 from Germany; first author will be presenting)
All awardees will give a presentation in the presidential session at the GSCN conference on 10 September, 2015 in Frankfurt/Main. Each award also includes an amount of 1,500 €.
Candidates are now being evaluated by the awards committee.
The awardees will be selected by the GSCN conference 2015 program committee and the executive board.

GSCN signs Joint Statement of the Wellcome Trust
The GSCN supports the European Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.

GSCN workshop on Computational Biology
The working group "Computational stem cell biology" is organizing a workshop on Computational Biology in Dresden on December 1st and 2nd, 2014. Applications are requested by November 14th, 2014. Please find further details on the website of the TU Dresden.
GSCN satellite session at the 47th DGTI Annual Meeting in Dresden
The GSCN has organized a satellite session on regenerative medicine on September 10, 2014 at the 47th DGTI Annual Meeting in Dresden. Moreover, in collaboration with the European Medicines Agency and the DGTI the GSCN also held the Workshop Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP): How to bring cell-based medicinal products successfully to the market ( flyer) on September 11, 2014.
GSCN Satellite Symposium: Neural Stem Cells in Evolution
On Tuesday, July 8th, 2014, the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) has hosted the 5th International Congress on Stem Cells and Tissue Formation covering the whole spectrum of the stem cell field. On this background, CRTD director Tanaka and Federico Calegari organized the satellite symposium on Neural Stem Cells in Evolution, an event open to the public entirely supported by the German Stem Cell (GSCN).
